Palm Island Florida Real Estate | Resort

The islands of Don Pedro, Palm, Knight, and Little Gasparilla can all be grouped together because they are all essentially the same barrier island off the coast of Cape Haze, Florida. The islands were once separated by two passes that have since filled to make one complete island. Most locals refer to the Island as Little Gasparilla Island. This island is part of an extensive chain of barrier islands and is located to the south of Manasota Key. Just to the south of Little Gasparilla Island is Boca Grande.

The Island includes over 7 miles of pristine white sand beaches. The water is gorgeous and one can snorkel, swim, kayak, fish, shell, sunbathe, or whatever other beach activity you can think of. The bay side of the island is covered with mangroves and useful for boating and fishing. Visitors to this island must either use a boat or ferry from Englewood. The ferry carries cars over to the island as there are roads here, but the main source of transportation is Golf Carts. The ferry runs all day long, 365 days a year.

There is not much in the way of shopping here with only a general store for the necessities. Everything else that is needed must be purchased from Englewood.  Rum Bay restaurant is a very nice casual restaurant at the north end of the island.

There are approximately 300 homes on Little Gasparilla Island. There are some very nice homes here, with some of the most incredible values you will find on the oceanfront in Florida. The only drawback is that you will have to use the ferry whenever you want to leave the island.

Part of Gasparilla Island includes Don Pedro Island State Park. This park will make you feel like you are in a deserted island paradise. The park offers a picnic pavilion, grills, tables, and restrooms. The park has an interesting elevated sand dune covered with sea oats, and hiking trails running throughout the park. Come see this beautiful unspoiled paradise, you won’t be disappointed!
